This announcement is cross posted from the Digital Pedagogy Lab site.
For five years, Digital Pedagogy Lab and Virtually Connecting have orbited each other, each tending to members of an ever-broadening community of educators whose concerns range from open pedagogy and OER to critical classroom practice and equitable design to social justice and access for underrepresented voices in academe. Through their tremendous commitment to creating parallel interactive virtual opportunities for those who cannot be present at conferences, Virtually Connecting has opened a world of dialogue across cultures, borders, and disciplines by creating not just a window into otherwise inaccessible events, but a global community of participation. Digital Pedagogy Lab, through its fully on-ground pedagogy creates an intense, intimate learning environment for educators who can travel; and for those who cannot, the Lab has relied on Virtually Connecting to bring them in.
Because both the Lab and Virtually Connecting are gathering places for educators in need of a place to experiment, discuss, discover, and learn, it seems only natural to (finally) bring the two together.
Digital Pedagogy Lab is grateful to welcome Virtually Connecting as a key partner for the DPL UK event, taking place 20-22 April 2020 at the Open University in Milton Keynes. The Lab will be looking for robust support from Virtually Connecting throughout the event, and will offer several Virtually Connecting scholarships, waiving event registration to VC volunteers. In this way, we hope to further cement the relationship between our communities, and to even more deeply contribute to networks of inquiry and collaborations that can take place across great distances.
To kick off the DPL UK event, Virtually Connecting will host a Q&A session with Sherri Spelic—who will be teaching the Digital Identity course at the Lab—and Sean Michael Morris, DPL Director. This special session will take place on Zoom, 26 November 2019 at 5:00pm UTC / 12:00pm Eastern. Please plan to join the session if you are curious about the Lab, have questions about how to get the most of your attendance, or just want to know more.
To join the session, leave a comment here or tweet to @vconnecting on Twitter. You can also just directly copy/paste the link to the Zoom session:
If you can’t make it to the session, but have questions, please leave them in the comments below and we will respond to them during the live session. The session will be livestreamed and recorded – and we will add the link to watch on YouTube here when it’s available:
We look forward to seeing you there… And to connecting with you in person or virtually at DPL UK!
