We’re excited to be Virtually Connecting at the #ALTC Conference, taking place in Warwick, UK September 6-8, 2016. This event has a special place in our hearts because it was the first time VC co-founders Rebecca and I (Maha) met in person. This year, neither of us is going to be there, but we have onsite buddies Martin Weller (also a VC advisory buddy), Sue Beckingham and Teresa MacKinnon (all of whom were guests in last year’s VC at ALTC). Special thanks to Martin Hawksey and the event organizers for providing a special room for the sessions
Keynotes and plenaries will be livestreamed by the event organizers and are as follows:
- Josie Fraser – In the Valley of the Trolls
- Ian Livingstone CBE – Code Create Collaborate
- Lia Commissar
- Jane Secker – Copyright and e-learning: understanding our privileges and freedoms
- Donna Lanclos and David White –Being Human is Your Problem
Some other fun you may want to check out are the opportunities for #play: Check it out
If you’re interested in having conversations with some of the folks onsite, we have the following sessions planned:
- Tuesday Sept 6 at 1:30pm, Sue Beckingham will connect us with Josie Fraser (keynote that morning) and Jane Secker (keynote Thursday). Virtual buddies Nadine Aboulmagd, Alan Levine and Wendy Taleo.
- Wednesday Sept 7 at 12:15pm, Teresa MacKinnon will connect us with Lorna Campbell and Fiona Harvey. Virtual buddy Maha Bali (that’s me).
- Thursday Sept 8 at 10:30am, Martin Weller will connect us with Donna Lanclos, David White (whose joint keynote is scheduled for later on Thursday) and Lawrie Phipps. Virtual buddies for this session are Autumm Caines, Cindy Jennings, Wendy Taleo and Ken Bauer

Please note that even though we have events scheduled ahead of time, sometimes we start a little earlier than planned for various reasons; while we plan to spend around 30 minutes with those onsite, sometimes they may have to leave earlier, and sometimes they may be willing to stay longer. We embrace imperfection and spontaneity and we hope you will too, understanding the nature of hybrid connections
